Exterior paint guide · Sri Lanka
There is no single best paint in Sri Lanka. There is a best paint for your wall. A west-facing wall in Colombo, a seafront villa in Galle and a hill-country bungalow face different enemies. This guide explains what actually makes exterior paint last here and which system suits which problem.

What Sri Lanka's climate does to paint
A good exterior paint has to answer all five threats, not just look good on the day it is applied. Which ones matter most depends on where the wall is.
UV
Strong year-round sun breaks down cheap binders, causing fading and chalking.
Monsoon rain
Water finds hairline cracks, and damp walls blister paint from behind.
Humidity
Algae and fungus grow on shaded and north-facing walls.
Dust and traffic
Light colours streak grey within a season on busy roads.
Salt air
Coastal buildings see faster breakdown of paint and render.
For this wall
Heat-reflective paint
Afternoon sun is the main enemy here. A heat-reflective finish reflects solar heat and keeps rooms behind the wall cooler.
Paint types compared
| Paint type | Strength | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Standard acrylic emulsion | Economical, wide colour range | Sheltered walls, budget repaints |
| Silicone resin paint | Dirt resistance, weatherability, breathes | Exposed façades, light colours, roadside buildings |
| Elastomeric waterproof paint | Stretches over hairline cracks, blocks water | Walls with cracking or damp problems |
| Heat-reflective paint | Reflects solar heat | West-facing walls, roofs, top floors |
| Two-pack PU enamel | Chemical and dirt resistance, long life | Commercial façades, topcoat over textures |
Systems we recommend
For walls that must stay clean
01A nano silicon resin exterior paint. Its nano-ceramic coating forms a cross-linked film that resists dirt pick-up, with excellent weather resistance. A strong choice for white and pastel façades.

02A waterproof, elastomeric, heat-reflective silicon resin paint. It bridges hairline cracks to stop water ingress, reflects heat and holds its colour.

03A super dirt-resistant two-pack polyurethane enamel with weather-resistant pigments and anti-carbonation properties. It is used as the protective topcoat over our stone textures.

Sun, monsoon rain and salt air, all on the same wall.
For hot, cracked walls
04A fibre-reinforced, highly elastic insulating base coat that restores cracked walls before a silicone waterproof, heat-reflective finish is applied over it.
Indoors, the priorities change: see low VOC interior paint. For hot, cracked render, the heat insulation wall coating. Hard-wearing topcoats: PU enamel paint.
